Frequently Asked Questions

Vanguards Healthcare offer personalized domiciliary care services, Which include personal care (help with bathing, dressing and grooming), household assistance (meal preparation, cleaning, shopping) and companionship. We also provide specialist support such as dementia care and post-hospital recovery care. Every care plan is tailored to your needs and preferences.

All Vanguards Healthcare carers are highly trained and vetted. They complete an induction (Care Certificate) covering key areas like safeguarding, infection control, first aid and medication handling. Many hold Health & Social Care diplomas and receive ongoing specialist training (for example in dementia care, moving & handling and medicine administration). Importantly, every carer has an enhanced DBS (background) check and is supervised to ensure compassionate, professional support at all times..

We offer very flexible scheduling to suit your routine. As the NHS notes, homecare can be arranged for as little as an hour a week or as many hours a day as needed, including nights. We can visit in the morning, evening, weekends or overnight if required. If your needs change, we simply adjust the schedule — for example, adding more visits after a hospital stay — and we work hard to provide alternative staff if your regular carer is unavailable.

Absolutely. Each client receives an individualized care plan. We start with a thorough assessment and then design your plan around your preferences and goals. For example, Helping Hands explains that care plans can cover everything from housekeeping and meal preparation to medication reminders and mobility assistance. We review your plan regularly and adjust it as your needs change, so you always get the right level of support.

Yes. Our carers can help you manage your medicines safely. They are trained in safe medication administration and will remind you to take each dose on time. We keep accurate records of all medication given. As one home care guide notes, skilled carers “record your medicines properly and know what to do in the event of an unanticipated error”. Of course, they only administer medication exactly as prescribed by your doctor or according to your care plan.

We offer specialist dementia care. Our carers receive extra training in dementia – learning techniques to communicate effectively, manage memory lapses and create comforting routines. They are patient and understanding, using familiar cues and gentle activities to reduce confusion. We work closely with family and health professionals to ensure a safe, supportive environment. Families appreciate that we respect the person’s dignity and keep them engaged as much as possible.

Yes. We provide short-term care after a hospital stay to help you recover safely at home. Carers can assist with wound or drain care, help you follow prescribed exercises, manage new medication schedules and even prepare easy meals while you regain strength. This is exactly the kind of short-term help “those recovering from illness or surgery” benefit from. Our goal is to give you and your family peace of mind during the recovery period, following any discharge instructions and ensuring a smooth transition home.
